2023 has been a year of transition for Love Homestead Products! We have had our youngest child graduate from high school and start college. We have been helping care for our granddaughter when our older child needs help. We have been increasing our options for soap and body butter and are excited to have expanded our website this year too! We are getting more organized and expanding our wholesale and consignment relationships. Our soap is now available at 1) Prairie Star Botanicals in Blair, NE, 2) Roots to Wings in Arlington, NE, 3) Superbee Orchard in Fort Calhoun, NE, 4) Cherry Hill Coffee Shop in Fort Calhoun, NE, 5) Wenninghoff Outdoor Farmers Market in Omaha, NE, 6) Loess Hills Lavender Farm north of Missouri Valley, IA. We've been hard at work! We have 8 batches of soap just wrapped. Some of these are going to be offered again because we love them so much and others are just for this special season.
We have a new twist on our coffee ground soap, suggested by a friend, we've added peppermint to our coffee fragrance and it really smells like a peppermint latte, Oh so good! We have a fresh batch of the very popular natural oats and honey bar and a couple bars that have an apple fragrance, one smells like apple cider, I kid you not! Also some fun new shapes for a new seasonal fragrance. Who wouldn't love a little glittery Santa, gingerbread man or Christmas tree soap in their stocking this year? If you can't find what you want on our website, send me a note on our contact us page with what you want. We are happy to do full batch special orders and get you exactly what you want to give as gifts this year. Please order soon though because it takes a batch of soap 3 to 6 weeks to fully cure. We love goatmilk soap and know you will too! We have been up to so much soap making and farmers market selling. Carnes Collective was a great place for selling soap for a bit but they decided to change directions for their business.
We have been enjoying selling soap at the Blair Farmers Market and much of the last year we had soap at a local pizza shop called Buck's Pizza in Fort Calhoun, NE. We have really enjoyed getting to know some of our local customers at the local farmers market! We have also done one large group home school field trip in the yard where some of the kids got to see our goats and chickens and everyone got to witness me making some fun goatmilk soap! Here are some pictures from this year, I hope you enjoy them. The below pictures represent 8 of the 19 batches of soap I have made in the last three weeks getting ready for the sale on December 14th. The sale will be held at Carnes Collective coffee shop at 16th and Washington Street In Blair, NE. Make your own gift boxes will also be available for a discount. A couple of the new batches are currently available for purchase on the lovehomesteadproducts.com website. Including Pumpkin Spice and Goat Milk Soap, and the Natural Honey, Oat and Goat Milk Soap. Can't wait to see you at the sale so you can touch and smell these soaps!
15 batches of soap in the last two weekends! A display for the craft sale is also in the works. So fun learning to make new to me types of soap. I had a custom order request for an activated charcoal face bar. It has been fun taking custom orders it causes me to challenge myself and create new options to offer to my other customers too. As a result of this custom order I have created a lemon and activated charcoal face bar and "pine tar" which is a pine scented activated charcoal bar. Because the activated charcoal is so fun to work with I decided to make these swirl bars and did they come out cool! I can't wait to show them off at the sale. Since I was experimenting with swirl bars and it is the Christmas season where greens and reds are the norm, I have created a green and red swirl soap that will be offered in bars and wreath shape too. I can't wait to see what they look like when they are out of the molds. They include a festive pine scent for this season. Also, some peppermint candy canes and hearts will be available in addition to some natural bars with added glitter in the shape of snowman heads!
I'd love to hear from you about any soap you might be buying online to see if maybe we can meet your soap needs locally. I am open to trying lots of options and learning new techniques to meet my local customers needs for locally sourced, sustainable, goat milk soap. Stay tuned for pictures as soaps are coming out of molds and being cleaned this week as I prepare for the sale on December 14th. Here is a picture that my mother-in-law took to show me an idea for how to display the soaps she picked up yesterday on antique dishes. I think this is such a great idea! By the way happy Thanksgiving! I am thankful for God, my family, and my customers. What are you thankful for? Next week is Thanksgiving and that means that Christmas is only 5 weeks away! Love Homestead Products has an opportunity to have a booth at the American Legion in Blair, NE on the corner of HWY 75 and HWY 30. This sale is on December 14th from 9am until 1pm. We are introducing several new scents and a couple exfoliating bars too. We are excited to share some seasonal scents and some that we are sure will be a hit all year long.

By the way, we are accepting custom orders. adjective: sustainable
What does this have to do with soap? Soap products are frequently sold in plastic containers that end up in landfills. The soap products usually contain preservatives and chemicals that can be hard on our skin and our environment. These are not sustainable practices. Love Homestead Products, LLC offers soap bars, these have no plastic packaging. This reduces the amount of plastic that ends up in our landfills. Our soap has no preservatives or chemicals that will end up in our drinking water. The soap we offer is completely safe for your skin and hair. Our soap is made of the freshest goat milk from goats who are loved. We are a small family owned business and care about providing the best product to you and your family. There is some controversy around palm oil being used in soap, we do not use it for that reason. We have a great product without using it. We take care of our environment in other ways too. We provide only recyclable packaging. All of our ingredients are natural and are organic when available. Our products are safe to use as all in one so no need to have a separate shampoo, conditioner, face soap and body wash. This cuts down significantly on the amount of packaging that is thrown away. Please check out our shop, buy some soap and let us know what you think. A couple months ago I met Jane, she owns Carnes Collective in Blair, NE. I had a table at her shop for a Saturday to sell some of my soap for the first time. She told me that if I could add some beer to the soap she thought I would really have a good product to sell. She gave me some suggestions about how to display and package my soap and suggested that I do some research into how the successful soap sellers are displaying their product. I did some research and learned a lot in the last few weeks.
I am so happy to say that on Saturday August 31, 2019 we have a spot to sell our soap at this little coffee and sandwich shop. This is an opportunity to touch, hold and smell our soap. Most people are surprised at how fragrant the soap is and how well it holds its scent. I would love for you to stop by the shop and let me know your thoughts on our display and try our soap. This long Labor Day weekend I have had some time to make more soap. I have Honey, Beer and Goat Milk Soap and Echinacea, Beer and Goat Milk Soap cooling in the refrigerator. In about 48 hours they will come out of their molds, and will be available for sale in about 4 weeks. Please check out the pictures below of our display at Carnes Collective at 16th and Washington Street in Blair, NE. I am so happy to be able to share my goat milk soap with you. This has been on my heart for the last year and with my husband as my partner I am able to make a business out of a hobby that I love.
Do you know what cold process soap is? It is a wonderful combination of liquids, oils and a saphonification process. Believe it or not making soap is chemistry. Many have gone away from making their own soap because, lets face it, it is just time consuming and potentially dangerous. The first time I made soap I was nervous because I had heard about people having bad experiences. Fact is that you add lye to the liquids and then add the oils to the lye and liquid mixture. After they are mixed they are poured into molds to form the bars of soap that are available for purchase now. You see, without the lye there is no "bar" of soap. It would only be liquid that would not clean your skin. Once the bar is removed from the mold it goes through about a month of a curing process. During that month the lye goes away to form the firm bar of soap. Once the curing process happens there is literally no lye in the soap at all. Its only purpose is to make a hard bar that is preserved for your use. Here are a couple pictures of the process of making soap. I made these three batches of soap yesterday and they will be available for sale in about a month. So glad you found the website and I hope you try some soap. |
